week in review

This week has started off much differently than last week, with the first pickup game of the season on Sunday, my return to PVCF today and spending both evenings at home with a good book. Well, the Good Book; I’ve started reading the Bible again. At the moment, I’m in the middle of Deuteronomy.

Last week was mostly a giant binge. Worked during the day, went out to party at night. Monday I hung out with CJ and Jen at their house, and ended up getting back to the apartment around 1am. Tuesday was St. Patty’s day, so I went out with my roommate Zain to Tully’s for a couple drinks.

Wednesday was Board Games Night here at the apartment. I made Sweet and Sour Tofu in the crockpot; Tess and Faith brought a delicious salad, and CJ hooked us up with some vegan deserts. Of course there was plenty of alcohol involved. The Banangrams went very well; I even managed to win a game for the first time. After dinner, Tess broke out the Settlers of Catan. It worked better than I expected, with only Tess and I having played before. Faith would have won if she’d understood the rules, but Tess actually played all 10 points on the board first.

Thursday was the penultimate game of indoor up at IAS, and we went out to the Sierra Grill to hear some music afterwards. Tess, Faith and I met Evan and Mike there, and the 5 of us ended up back at Tess’ place for a bit more drinking. I got introduced to a drink called The Incredible Hulk (Hpnotiq and Hennessy) due to its bright green color.

Friday night was the pub crawl for Webcomics Weekend so I wandered out to the Dirty Truth, Ye Olde Watering Hole and the Elevens. Saturday night was going to be detox night, but instead I hung out with Mike and Steph which rarely ends in a detox of any kind. We played caps and Egyptian Ratscrew, both of which I got creamed at.

I’m going to try to make this week a little less focused around massive quantities of alcohol. That being said, I’m going out with CJ for our birthday dinner tomorrow, and then (hopefully) up to the People’s Pint for a couple more celebratory drinks.
